Chipped Tooth

A chipped tooth can have many different causes. Of course, if you are reading this post that probably means you already have a chipped tooth. If it is the case, then you know how annoying a chipped tooth can be. I use the word ‘annoying’ to describe a chipped tooth instead of painful because at times chipped teeth don’t hurt (speaking from personal experience). Of course, most times a chipped tooth does hurt, so don’t feel like something is extra-wrong if your mouth is in serious pain due to your tooth being chipped.

While the reasons for a chipped tooth can vary, what you need to do in response doesn’t. First, you need to contact your dentist as soon as possible. Even if it does not hurt, contact them and find out what he/she suggests that you do to take care of your chipped tooth. There are several reason why this is important, but not more so than the fact that a chipped tooth can lead to a tooth infection.

If the chipped tooth is small enough then you may not even have to have anything done, but again that is a call your dentist will make. More than likely you will need to have veneers done, and potentially even a cap placed on the chipped tooth, but again this will depend on the severity of the chipped tooth itself. Either way, rest assured that something can be done to fix your chipped tooth so it does not bother you in the future.
